Ask
the Virtual Consultant
Q: I have a large
number of products that I need to list for my customers? What is the best
way to go about it?
Katrina (Bric-A-Brac Store Owner), Kilmore Vic
A: Depending
on the number of products and the amount of detail that you wish to explain
to your customers, you can easily list them in a spreadsheet (e.g. Microsoft
Excel) and format or arrange the layout of such a listing in many ways,
even graphically. But if you have a large number of products or a considerable
quantity of a smaller number of products then it may opportune to develop
a product database to which you could undertake a regular stocktake to
ensure accurate records of existing stock.
Q: I am looking
at applying for a new job but I haven't done a CV / Resume for a number of
years. What is the accepted format nowadays?
Margaret
(Receptionist), Essendon Vic
A: Unlike
many years ago when employers wanted to know everything about you (from
school to your last job), prospective employers now usually require only
a 1-2 page 'synopsis' of your job, educational & personal background.
With healthy competition for most jobs nowadays, employers don't wish
to plough through pages and pages of detailed background and usually only
have time to flick through bulleted listings or 1-2 line informative points
to enable them to determine a short list for further interview. Good luck!
